Violent femininity
Completed for ARTG3452 Experimental Graphic Design in Spring 2025. This is a series of two "monthly experiments," where the assignment was to design original projects using experimental techniques. This series contains three elements focused around the theme of Femme Fatale, or Violent Femininity. Each piece is designed with stereotypically "feminine" techniques or materials, but carries a secret purpose or message. Materials include Adobe Illustrator, Risograph printing, hard nail gel, gel nail polish, gold aluminum wire, gold brass wire, red droplet beads, and gold beads. This project was featured in the Northeastern Spring 2025 Senior Art Show.

Poster campaign
The theme of this series was using "feminine" methods and materials to make a social statement about sexism, misogyny, and violence against women. This poster was designed on Adobe Illustrator and printed on Risograph printers, which can only print 1-2 colors at a time. It features the campaign slogan, "We Fight Back," and a stereotypically feminine color palette: red, white, and gold. The slogan is a layered design behind a graphic of the center-piece of this collection, the knife.

nail gel knife
The main piece of this collection is this knife, which is made of gel nail supplies, aluminum wire, and red droplet beads. The knife was hand-sculpted using hard nail gel and a handheld nail Dremel. The handle detailing was carved using a fine-point tip and colored with gold-chrome nail powder. The blade is painted with pink and red gel nail polish, and decorated with hand-made gold aluminum wire jump rings and red-droplet beads. It was designed to appear feminine and beautiful, using "feminine" materials and techniques, while maintaining functionality as a defense weapon. It comes across simply as decoration, pleasant to the eye, but has razor sharp edges that could defend against an attacker.

crochet wire arm plate
The final piece of this collection is a crochet wire arm plate, inspired by chainmail armor but created using the "feminine" technique of crochet. Using a 5mm crochet hook and soft gold brass wire, Adrianna crocheted the wire into an arm plate that wraps around the base of the forearm and connects around the palm and middle finger. It could be used as a defense technique to shield oneself from an attacker. It features the campaign slogan, "We Fight Back," beaded onto the top of the forearm with gold beads. The arm plate also has red droplet beads to aesthetically connect it to the knife.
